Photo Assessment

I took my photos at the Point, a place I go to hang out with my friends. I selected this topic because I think of it as a hidden beauty of Somerset. I like the Point because my two best friends and I walk to it in the summer to hang out. In the first six photos, the ones I chose for my project, I zoom in gradually seeing beyond the bushes and zooming in on the detail of the swan. The zooming in past the bushes resembles getting closer and seeing the true basics. As you push back the clutter in the initial photos, it reveals a swan. As I zoom in on the swan there is more visible detail and it reveals more of the swan's beauty. The message in this case is that you don't know how beautiful someone or something is until you find out what they are under the surface, beneath all of the "clutter." I ordered my photos so that they zoom in on both the water beyond the bushes and the swan a little more each time.  Then I also rotated between each subject so that it is almost like seeing the progress after pushing back the bushes. Swans are a naturally beautiful, graceful bird so this represents the beauty factor. I took the pictures looking out at the water from the Point and at a downward angle. The lighting is decently bright because I took the pictures just before sunset as the clouds continually covered then unveiled the sun. I chose color to capture the greens of the bushes and the blues of the water and sky. Finally, I used repetition of images, subject matter and location to unify my series of photos.
