    Shadow Assessment

The time of day for these photos is irrelevant because I took them inside using a light in the back studio. I started out using a metal tool with two ribbed circles inside a vase to make the shadow look like there were flowers in the vase. I then moved on to taking pictures of headphones and the shadow they made as they coiled and twisted on the paper background. Lastly, I took pictures of colored glass with a bottle and a vase. My favorite photos are the ones of the colored glass. The colored shadow they leave is pretty and I liked how the shadow bends if I took the picture from certain angles, such as the one that is mostly all shadow rather than having the glass in the picture. The shadow projected larger than the size of the glass and the color was basically the same other than being blurred, almost making it seem mysterious. The paper set down for the background brings out line, as does the orange vase. Shape is shown in the orange vase and bottle, and the texture of the glass items is smooth and polished. These things all added interest to the shot because the smooth glass differs from their blurry, fuzzy shadows. The shadow in my images adds mystery because of the shadow being larger and curvier, sometimes sloping up and wider depending on the angle. Also, the spots that have less color in the shadow are mysterious because I wonder what triggered them. Is it the light hitting one spot so intensely that it shines right through the color or was there worn spots in the glass items?
